File Indexer Searcher and Export Tool intro
Managing project files can be overwhelming, especially when dealing with different formats and large volumes of documents. File Exporter simplifies this process by providing a user-friendly interface that allows you to efficiently search, organize, and export files. Our application ensures that your files are always well-organized and easily accessible, saving you valuable time and effort.
This software allows you to find and export all the file names entered in the input area to the export directory. With this software, you can enter (paste) file names, format entered file names (format data entered into rows), and export files as necessary.
You can also export files by saving them to extension-named subfolders (“Extension to search, comma separated: *.dwg, *.dxf, *.etc”) by checking the extension folders checkbox. Additionally, you can add a project number to the folder name (“Include project name in export folder name”) by entering the project number and checking the checkbox.
If you want to exclude files during export automatically, fill in the “Ignore files containing symbols” field. The software will exclude these files during export. You can also do this manually by clicking “Remove Ignored Files” from the main input area list.
Before exporting, you must perform indexing. Do this by selecting the directory to index and pressing the “Index” button. The index file should be regenerated every time new files are added. Check the “last updated” time! The index process doesn’t run automatically; you must start it manually each time it’s needed.
In the exception input area, you must enter master file names, one per row. Enter file names in the exception area to treat them as master files. The application will prompt you to replace file names with their respective master file names if they match. Exception checks can be done manually (before export); by default, the software does this automatically before export.
The software has functionality to remember selections and values entered (it saves the config). It also remembers the last indexing (it saves the index file). By clicking on “View Index List,” the user can check if the file in the index list exists (if you want to be thorough).

You can add a project number to the folder name by checking the “Include project name in export folder name” checkbox and entering the project number.
To exclude files during export, fill the “Ignore files containing symbols” field. You can also manually remove ignored files by clicking “Remove Ignored Files” from the main input area list.

The software remembers selections and values entered (it saves the config) and keeps track of the last indexing (it saves the index file). The index file and config file are saved in the Windows temp folder. By clicking “View Index List,” users can verify if files in the index list exist.
If the “Extensions to search” field is empty or contains “” or “.*”, the results window will have one file per row and only two columns – the initial input and the search result. This is useful for searching exact files with specific extensions.
By checking “Allow and interpret regex,” you can search for multiple files using regular expressions. Use this with caution, as it could find too many files or files that are not accessible. By default, this function is turned off.
To preview export results without waiting for the export/copy process, use “Simulate Export.” This provides an overview of the potential results of the copy process.
If you only want to use the software for searching and copying, uncheck and empty all the values after the “Advanced Setting” separator.
If your antivirus software flags this program as a virus, it’s because of its functionality. You can manually allow it.
